“OB Van, Remote truck, SNG, Flightpack… If it moves, I’ll make it work!”
I am almost always in a different location and I can best be described as a jack of all trades.
One day, I am covering football close to home in a truck that I know and the next day, I am getting a Visa to go and cover a sport that I don't know in a country that I don't know and I need to get vaccinated, change currency, book flights.
Basically, no 2 days are the same for me and I get to see the world on someone else's budget.
I'm continually redesigning systems based on daily changing demands and I need to stay abreast of evolving technology.
It's also a very physical job as we're sometimes loading trucks in foreign tropical countries, making sure our crew is fed, hotels are clean, working conditions are safe and many other responsibilities.
